Teamsters Canada

About This Project

Who: TEAMSTERS CANADA

  • Teamsters Canada is a Canadian Trade Union representing over 120,000 members in all industries across the country.

What we were asked to do:

  • Teamsters Canada wanted to launch a national campaign to raise awareness and to make mental health support mandatory in workplaces across Canada.

How we did it:

  • Our first step was to research and get in contact with mental health experts, politicians and leaders in the community and Canadians who were speaking openly about mental health issues and concerns.
  • We traveled across the country interviewing these Canadians who had compelling stories that they wanted to share.

What we produced successfully:

  • We put together seven short ‘webisode’ documentary videos that featured interviews with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Brian Burke, Sheldon Kennedy and many more.
  • We launched a social media and influencer campaign that lead to the videos and website being viewed by millions across Canada.
  • Key mental health organizations reached to Teamsters Canada to work further to raise awareness about mental health issues across Canada and they now have a reputation as leaders in the labour movement when it comes to mental health activism
  • Videos were viewed over 1.3 million times on social media alone from the launch of the campaign until the final video was released
  • Total blog impressions were nearly 400,000 times
